Organizing a World Day for the Poor at home?
It's easy! Here are a few things in this link:)
Institution of the World Day of the Poor by Pope Francis
“In the light of the “Jubilee of Socially Excluded Persons” *, when in all the cathedrals and shrines of the world the Doors of Mercy were closing, I had the intuition that, as the last concrete sign of this Extraordinary Holy Year, We had to celebrate throughout the Church, the XXXIIIth Sunday in Ordinary Time, World Day of the Poor. This will be the best preparation for living the solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, who identified himself with the small and the poor and who will judge us on the works of mercy (cf. Mt 25,31-46). It will be a day that will help communities and every baptized person to reflect on how poverty is at the heart of the Gospel and on the fact that, as long as Lazarus lives at the door of our house (cf. Lk 16:19-21), there can be no justice or social peace. This Day will also be an authentic form of new evangelization. (cf. Mt 11:5) through which the face of the Church will be renewed in her continuous action of pastoral conversion in order to be a witness to mercy.”
