From July 30 to August 7, a Fratello delegation composed of young people and guides from charitable associations will participate in World Youth Day in Lisbon.

Since its creation, Fratello has wanted to respond to the call of Pope Francis and open the doors of the Church to the poorest. Open the doors so that everyone feels welcomed, expected, loved, regardless of their life path, injuries and weaknesses. Open the doors so that everyone can experience the encounter with the poorest and be enriched by them.

On the occasion of Upcoming World Youth Days, Fratello will bring to Lisbon a delegation of young people from the peripheries, in precarious situations, far from the Church, injured by the trials of life, on the margins of society... The objective: to allow these young people to meet other young people from all over the world and to grow towards Christ.

Some young people may think that World Youth Day is not for them, that their life path is too chaotic, that they are too far from God, from the Church, from society... But Christ first came for the poorest and most injured. Fratello wants to say to each of these young people: “You are welcome, young people from all over the world need your presence at World Youth Day!”

Thus, Fratello invites all associations that support young people from the peripheries on a daily basis and who have not yet planned to come to World Youth Day to join the Fratello delegation! To do this, each association will be able to form a group of young people and coaches and benefit from the program organized by the Fratello team.

The program will be adapted to the particular needs of the young people in the delegation: prayer time, content of catecheses, moments of rest away from the crowd, specific activities, festive and fraternal times, etc.

Fratello wishes to federate numerous associations in the field, and allow each young person to come into a group they already know, accompanied by people they trust, and with whom they can continue to be in contact following this highlight of World Youth Day.

The Fratello delegation will join Portugal by bus, and will leave from July 30 to August 7. A time is planned in Spain and Portugal to allow the expected 100 to 200 participants to experience convivial and fraternal times together. The delegation will arrive in Lisbon on Thursday, August 3, to welcome Pope Francis.

The price will be adapted to the possibilities of young people and their chaperones.

Fratello invites young people who wish to put their talents at the service of the preparation of this event to join the team by sending an email to contact@wearefratello.org.

Together, let's go to World Youth Day... and let's not forget the poorest!
