February 13, 2023 — Philippe Royer, former national president of EDC (Entrepreneurs and Christian Managers) succeeds Etienne Villemain as president of Fratello. With Alix Montagne, co-founder and vice-president of Fratello, they will be surrounded by a largely renewed team.
Etienne Villemain will now devote himself to the development of Village of François which welcomes the excluded at Sainte Marie du Désert Abbey and will continue to support Fratello.
“Everyone must dare to encounter the most fragile in order to become poor among the poor”
Philippe Royer
Major challenges await the new Fratello team in the coming years:
- Summer 2023: Fratello Delegation to World Youth Day in Lisbon
- November 2023: World Day of the Poor
- 2025: Jubilee of the Church, in which the poorest must have a place
In the continuity of the previous events, many people who feel excluded will be able to discover how much they are loved by God and welcome to the heart of the Church.
Fratello continues its mission in connection with numerous dioceses and charitable associations in France and around the world to echo the voices of the most fragile. Fratello wants to encourage the opening of hearts so that each human person is respected in their dignity and considered a sacred person. And it is by hearing the “cry of the poor” who often show us Jesus, that we will be converted and that we will find joy and hope again.
In the coming weeks, people motivated by this desire to rebuild the world and the Church with the poor will be able to join Fratello and thus create the momentum of fraternity that the world so badly needs.
Founded by Etienne Villemain and Alix Montagne in 2016, the Fratello association wants to contribute to opening the door of the Church to poor and fragile people by responding to the call of Pope Francis “How I would like a poor Church, with the poor! ”. The Fratello Association wishes to be guided by the Holy Spirit to live out its mission, which is to promote the World Day of the Poor and to involve the most vulnerable in various local and international Church events.
